Does anyone know if it is possible to numerically align objects or if there is a plugin for more precise alignments, rather than just using illustrators standard tools?

also is it possible to input numerical values for guides?

Thanks in advance

Drag:

The transform palette will do the job for you. Select an object (or guide) and enter the desired coordinates in the various boxes in the Transform palette, and voila!

Just to expand a little:

You can enter a number for width, and Ctrl-Enter will resize proportionally;

You can enter basic math operators (like 1/8 for example) and Illustrator will convert it to decimals;

You can enter a number in a different unit than the one used in the document, and Illustrator will convert to the proper unit (i.e. enter "2 in" for 2 inches when the units are set to pixels, and Illustrator will convert the number to 144 pixels).
