I have an MRP application called 4th Shift that came with some preset Crystal Reports (v7). One particular report is what they call a Box Label which the preset report sends to the upper left corner of an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper. I would like to change the report to be formatted for a specific Avery label part number. I am a Crystal newbie. I see how to do it if I were creating something from scratch but I haven't been able to find where to make the changes in the pre-made report. Can anyone help?

You need to find the reports folder embedded in the installation of the 4th shift database. For example, if you installed it in your hard drive it is probably under a folder like c:\program files\4th shift\reports...

Once you find that folder look for the specific report and then open it and alter what you have to.

I recommend cloneing the report before changing it just to be sure you dont do anything you dont want to do.

Ah-ha! Thanks for the reply. I reread my post and I see I was a bit confusing. I can locate and load the report just fine and I can even change some of the database fields. However, when it comes to changing it to label stock within Crystal 7, I am still lost. Page setup just gives me margins and such, so unless I redo it from scratch I am not seeing the option with Crystal to select the label stock I am using. (ie, doing a new report from scratch I can select the label wizard and format it for my specific avery label, but in reports that are already done I am not seeing how to change their paper selection to these labels. thanks again.

Hello Schmeg

If this is report was originally created as a label report, you can open the report, then click on Report menu item and then on Report Expert. This will give you the four options of changing the report, Data, Fields, Label, and Select. Under Label, you can specify what type of label you wish for the report to look like.

Hope this helps. E. McEvoy

emcevoy, thanks for the help! What if it was not originally created as a label report?

Hello

Unfortunately, if it is not already you will not have this option, which is the easiest. You will have the options of either rebuilding the reports or by using the format section and the format with multiple columns and then using the layout tab, size the section accordingly.

I hope all goes well with your reports E. McEvoy
