Pre-generate client side file list for backup.

I can not recall how to get NBU to force the client to pre-generate a list of files to backup before the backup jobs start.

I have a server with loads of little files, millions of the buggers, and generating the list to backup while the backup runs is a bit slow.

What is the name of the function I am looking for?

Unfortunately, Netbackup does not create a filelist before backup. It did, back at version 3.x I believe, but this changed at I think 4.x

Certainly Netbackup 6.x backups up what it finds as it goes along.

I am not sure where you are seeing a list generated whilst it backs up ? , or what is giving you this impression. bpbkar log can be configured to log each file as it's backed up, but this is not done in advance, it is as each file is written.

The exception I believe, in when using the DB agents, this will then create a filelist.
