PRCOMAIL and emai errors and then some

I have recently inherited a Linux server and feel that I am losing hte battle on getting all the bugs worked out. My most recent error(s) are: we're not getting any email....I get eh following errors in the email being returned to root:<br>

procmail: Lock failure on "/usr/spool/mail/username.lock"<br>
procmail: Error while wrting to "/usr/spool/mail/username"<br>
550 &lt;username@ormed.edu&gt;... Can't create output: Error 0<br>

<br>
I am getting otehr errors also, but these seem to be related to our inability to get mail. <br>

All and any help is GREATLY appreciated!!<br>

make sure you have write permission to /usr/spool/mail/$USERNAME (ls -l /usr/spool/mail/$USERNAME), probably should be 600 owned by $USERNAME so ls -l /usr/spool/mail/$USERNAME would be rw------- $USERNAME<br>
