I am running prairiefyre with the MCC at version 7.1.

The server it is running on is getting low on disk space. Any tips on reducing disk space used by this software?
I have deleted all but the last six weeks of reports, but this has not changed the free disk space. I suspect that when you delete a report you are just marking a database entry and not actually changing the database size. Is there a way of actually reducing the space used by the reports database?

if the server has ever been upgraded you probably have lots of data related to previous versions that can be removed.
The installers for new versions of CCM still dont clean up properly .

When installing the software it will be extracted to c:\version ( or whatever drive letter was chosen)

if you still have other folders like these , they can be removed
C:\CIS_60GA
c:\cis_70
even the latest folder can be removed if you are pushed for space , i normally keep the bundled installation file (.exe) in case its required

also within the ccm backupfiles folder there may be previous versions ( i normally only keep the last one before the version being run)

if you are concerned about whether they can safely be removed - move them first to another location off of the server ( network drive etc)

installing desktop experience and running cleanmgr may also assist in removing old Windows update files which can accumulate and take up lots of space

using a space visualisation tool like treesize free can help in locating data that isnt required.

if many people have been managing it you may find old backups and other old software located under user personal folders or on the desktop of their logins that can be removed

If I never did anything I'd never done before , I'd never do anything.....
