What version of Prairiefyre?
I'm pretty sure the answer is yes.
We had to use remote exchange on 5.6 because the exchange version was 2007 ( 64bit only) and the PF server didnt support 64bit OS.
I believe that version 6.0 PF will support 64bit OS

thanks for your response. Im currently doing a remote exchange installation, but cannot seem to get the exchange link up. What are usually the common causes for the link not coming into service ? Did you run into this on your install ?
Using 5.8CCM,MS Exchange 2003, MS server 2003 32bit.

Yeah, Ive run the remote server config wizard on exchange and the MCC config wizard on the enterprise server, and have domain admin and full exchange admin rights. Do you also have to setup the exchange send connector for 2003 as well or is that just for 2007 ?
