hey all,

I was emailed this by a friend of mine and I have no idea on how to do it, could anyone enlighten me as to what he is saying?

-------------------------------------------------------
-PPTP VPN Connection from your network to our Network
-Ports needed to be open 47 (GRE) and TCP/IP 1723

A client machine (Windows and or Mac) needs to connect to ourvpn.com.au via a PPTP, tunnel through the connection to one of our internal VPN Servers. The VPN Server is running a Windows 2000 platform.

I will provide you with a working PC that is already preconfigured to connect to the PIMM network tunneled through a dialup ISP connection.

I have an IP NAT translation DSL router facing the outside world. All requests to the domain pimm.com.au are routed to our internal firewall. This is the Windows 2000 VPN Server setup with Remote Access interfaces configured to allow PPTP sessions. The neccesary ports on the DSL router have been opened to allow PPTP sessions.

I have a Windows 2000 client setup to test to see if our router/firewall combination is allowing us to 'dial-in' using PPTP tunneling through the internet. I know this works as we have tested it using a dial-up ISP to provide the internet 'interconnection' from a test network to connect to our internal LAN. The neccesary ports have been open allow PPTP sessions on the DSL Router.

eeepp! I have no idea what to do here!!! any info on this VPN stuff would be much appreciated,

Thanks!,

Luke

If you are trying to VPN in to his network, then go to Start Menu, Settings, Network and Dialup connections and make a new connection.

Select a vpn option, and then follow the onscreen prompts.

Eventually, you will need a username and password to access his network (that is what a vpn is!!).

The rest of the information is just waffle on how he has setup the vpn and tested it - dont worry about it!! ChrisCW
