I have Windows 2000 Server on my computer. I need to connect to PPTP servers. I can connect once, do my work, then disconnect. When I disconnect, the TCP/IP stack apparently crashes. I am not able to "ping 127.0.0.1" in a command shell, it responds with the message of "Destination host unreachable." for each ping. I am not able shut down Win2K completely, it pauses at a blank blue screen. The mouse still works, but the keyboard does not respond.

The same thing happens when I dial to my ISP. When I disconnect, my TCP/IP stack appears to no longer work. However, I am usually able to reboot successfully.

I have looked on this web site and on msdn.microsoft.com for any information, to no avail. Any clues?

Found the problem. I had ZoneAlarm installed. As soon as I uninstalled ZoneAlarm everything works correctly. ZoneAlarm folks say this is a known bug and should be fixed on next release.
