HI.
I found the followin syslog message in a pix that I manage:
213002: PPTP tunnel hashtable insert failed, peer = x.x.x.x
It appears 3 times in a row, like this:
213002: PPTP tunnel hashtable insert failed, peer = x.x.x.x
213002: PPTP tunnel hashtable insert failed, peer = x.x.x.x
213002: PPTP tunnel hashtable insert failed, peer = x.x.x.x
The IP address seems to be a legitimate client, since it comes from the same ISP that the VPN clients normaly use.
I have not received complains from clients about PPTP not working, but they might have not yet reached me.
The pix is a 515R version 6.0(1), with DES enabled.
The pix is currently accepting PPTP VPN clients, most of them use Windows 2000 PRO.
I now tried to connect from a 98se workstation with modem to another ISP, and got error 645:
Dial-Up Networking could not complete the connection to the server.
Check your configuration and try the connection again.
I then found this message at the pix log:
213001: PPTP control daemon socket io read error, errno = -2043674623
In the same time, I seem to have network probelms.
The router and the pix both have very bad ping and tracert reponses (about 4000ms or timeout).
"show interface" at the router is showing that it is running at high bandwidth capacity in both directions (about 120kbps)
So I guess that network problems are my case, but I'm not sure.
I still don't know where the high bandwidth comes from.
I found only this info so far:
*******
%PIX-3-213002: PPTP tunnel hashtable insert failed, peer = IP_addr.
Explanation An internal software error occurred while creating a new PPTP tunnel.
Action Report the problem to Cisco TAC.
*******
From here:
I will report this to our local CISCO support, but if you can give me more info about this it would be nice.
Thanks
