pppd and chap problem

When i start pppd with the "require-chap" option it gives me the following message:
pppd 2.3.5 started by root, uid 0
Sep 12 02:49:55 Chiko pppd[330]: Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/cuaa1
Sep 12 02:49:56 Chiko pppd[330]: Serial line is looped back.
Sep 12 02:49:56 Chiko pppd[330]: Connection terminated, connected for 1 minutes
If i take require-chap option out everything is OK.
What should i do? [sig][/sig]
