PPP connection on Gateway 9300

I have a gateway 9300 laptop running linux 7.1 dual boot with Win 2000 and set-up for ethernet.

All's running fine and it was the easiest install I have ever had, including the dual boot portion with the win OS.

The last problem I have is the installation of the modem. The automated PPP configuration set-up mechanism that is part of redhat will not find the modem.

I have checked over the linux-laptop pages and I havent found anything on this portion.

Any help is greatly appreciated
