Apologies if this seems like a repeat, as I think this was touched on in a recent thread, but can't find it in the keyword search.
I'm running Upfront and PPES on a Win2K server of reasonable spec (twin 2.8GHz Xeons, 2 GB memory and mirrored 36GB drive - 18m old). On occasions, the server slows down so much as to be unresponsive.
On checking the task manager, I find 4 x ppdsweb.exe processes, each taking 25% or so of the CPU time (I assume the 4 results from multithreading the twin CPUs).
I suspect that users are trying to create complicated cube views in PPES and impatiently closing the browser rather than waiting for a result.
Can anyone offer an idea as to how to automatically check for and terminate these processes? Alternatively, is there a configuration setting to end queries that exceed a certain time limit?
All thoughts and views welcome,
