We have just installed a new internal modem onto our remote computer and we can't get PPD to connect to anything through it.
DOS KX-TD programming works and Hyper Terminal dals out so the modem is working.
The PC is Windows XP Pro.
Any thoughts on settings for PPD???

Many thanks.

try atz as an init string and then dial out! lower baud rate
to 9600

Tried that and is still doesn't work.

Getting 'Login failure:unknown source' error message coming up.

It is almost like it can't see the modem on Com3, but I know that the modem works.

???????????????????????

I can't say that I actually use the ppd that much becuase
of the fact that it has never been stable enough to trust
it for use with dialup .did you actually put atz in the
program area for the init string if yes does the modem respond does the program say it has initalized the modem?
what kind of internal modem is it?

just for grins I just tried the zoom 56k dual external
connected on comm 4 with a usb to serial cable with the atz as an init and it dials out 11.5 with no problem!!

if we plug in an external modem to com 1 the software works fine, but this modem is getting tired and we wanted to tidy things up by using an internal.

Not sure of make/model of modem as I didn't physically install the thing.

I put ATZ into init string in PPD.

it may be a driver issue what does device manager say the internal is?

have you tried to get the latest driver for it?

Thanx for your sugestions with this. I think I am going to force my Senior Engineer to do what I said in the first place.

Buy a decent modem rather than using old crap he found in his drawer!!!!!!!!!
