I have several PP1424s in a fiber ring (using OSPF as the routing protocol). Updated the code some time ago to 2.1.4.
About 49 days ago I basically rebuilt the configs on all of the switches to get them to be similar. At about the 49 day uptime mark one of the switches rebooted on its own - no power outage or anything else in the log indicating a problem.
A day or so later, each of the remaining 4 switches (at separate times) stopped routing on the fiber ring, yet it appeared that the switches were still sending OSPF Hello packets, which meant that my ring didn't recover properly to the remaining sites on the ring. After about 15 minutes, the switch would begin routing properly again. All switches had been up between 49 and 50 days.
Vendor tells me that a Nortel engineer said there were similar problems on the PP16xx switches and that they had to roll back code. Anyone know any more about this?
