I want to launch a powerpoint presentation from a browser, ie., <a href=&quot;file=....</a>. That works fine except how do I get the powerpoint presentation to open in &quot;slide show&quot; view. Thanks

Hello elias21,
If you want your PowerPoint presentation to start automatically when you open it you will have to save the Presentation as a &quot;PowerPoint Show&quot;.

Save your presentation then <File><Save As> change file type to &quot;PowerPoint Show&quot;. DO NOT save your only copy/version of the presentation as a PowerPoint Show. A PowerPoint Show is play only. You cannot edit a PowerPoint Show.

Be sure to have included all your slide animations, text/build transitions and any custom animation before saving as a PowerPoint Show.

Say, what version of PowerPoint are you using? If you are using PowerPoint 2000 why not publish the presentation as a webpage?

Hope this helps,
Happy New Year!!

Note of caution: you CAN edit a Powerpoint slideshow.

If you open Powerpoint, and then FILE->OPEN the .pps file, you can do what you want to the slideshow. However, this is only if the user knows you can do this.
