I cannot believe I am posting a question on PowerPoint but this is now driving me mad!

I have built a presentation using the advanced timeline. However, in places I do not know the length of time the speaker requires and so have built in a single mouse click to pause the action. All slides are set up to progress automatically after the last action is complete.

However, the system (PowerPoint 2007 and 2003) does not pause on the On Click command but instead proceeds as if it were an After Previous.

I found that if I set the Slide Transition to Manual (and the system automatically removes the tick from Use Rehearsal Timings) then the On Clicks do work, but now you have to click to progress the slides on. If I re-apply the tick the system automatically re-ticks Use Rehearsal Timings and I am back to square one.

It seems that you cannot truly divorce slide transitions from custom animations!

I believe at present that the only way around this is to reduce the slide show further down to one or two slides, combining all the others but this seems so STUPID!

Anyone any ideas?
