Powerpoint Presentation slow to load!!!!

I am having a problem with large powerpoint presentations loading on a Dell Inspiron 8000 running W2K and office 2k with all windows/office updates. This machine has 256 mb of ram and a 800mhz pIII. When I load one of the large presentations (48MB) it will only use around 12500 k to load which takes over a minute, but will use up to 48000 k after it is loaded. If I load the same presentation on my Dell workstation with basically the same setup (733mhz, 256mb)it will use up to 65000 k to load (very quick, just a couple of seconds). I have changed all of the power and bios settings to maximize and have even changed the priority in task manager with no effect. Is there something in the program itslef or in the registry I can change to change this????
