Why don't you create the outline in Word? Use the Heading 1 style for the slide title, and Heading 2 style for the bullets, complete your outline. When your outline is all done, hit File-Send to-Powerpoint. It will automatically create slides for you based on those formats.
I need to title my slides so when the user clicks the Slide Navigator, a list of slide titles will show up rather than Slide 1, Slide 2...and so forth.
Otherwise, I have no need for an outline and do not want outline titles to appear on my slides. My presentation is complete. Just looking for a way to change the name of the slides or add an additional description to help users navigate.
There isn't really a way to do what you want to through standard Microsoft functionality. But. Heres a way you could achieve what you wanted.
Create your slide show and name the slides what you want to (i.e. something descriptive or whatever, that your user can use through slide navigator).
Through Slide Master, select the Outline you have just set up and created and format the text to be the same colour as the background of the slide itself.
This will "hide" the text when looking at the slideshow.
Next, create a text box for each slide and enter the slide title that you want to. So, when you do a slideshow, all you can see is the slide title you have entered in the text box, but in slide outline view, you can see the descriptive titles (which are "hidden" you have the slides.
