I would like to open 2 separate powerpoint presentations side by side, in their own separate application instances. I don't want to have to stretch the application frame out wide and have two separate windows open within the same application instance. You can do this with MSWord & MSExcel, but I haven't been able to figure out how w/ PPT. Any info greatly appreciated!

Will showing the two side-by-side by going to Window > Arrange All serve your purpose?

Hi John - Thanks for the response - no, that isn't what I am looking for, unfortunately. That's what I meant by stretching the application screen out and showing multiple windows - the "arrange all" feature.

I want to be able to have two separate instances of PPT open, side by side, similar to what Microsoft Word allows. You can open a Microsoft Word document, that has all the toolbars, panes, etc available in the window. Then you can open another Microsoft Word document, and it has its own application instance, complete w/ menu bars, etc. You can put them side by side, one on the left screen, one on the right, etc.

Again thanks!

Well, as you've noticed, PowerPoint is resistant to having multiple sessions open.

But this should be an effective work-around, assuming that you have Admin rights on your computer....

[Shift] + Right Click the shortcut to the menu and select Run As. Change from 'Current user' to 'The following user'. Select a different User Name. (NOTE: If needed, create a new User on the computer before doing the above.)

PP will, by default, save files to that user's MyDocuments, but you can change the default save locationin Tools > Options > Save.

Nice understatement [smile]

This can't be done - see

Hi Jon,
That's the ticket! Sneaky way to get around it - I never would have thought of it. Much appreciated, take the rest of the day off.

Best regards,

Doug

Thanks!

I'll just run tell my boss that I'm leaving. [wink]
