Powerpoint import wave file HELP

Hello,
I down loaded some *.wav files from various sites on the web. They all play when I open them with the windows media player. However when I use the import clip feature on powerpoint (when trying to add sounds to a slide) the little speak shows up but it makes no sound.

Any ideas?
