Powerpoint and Access file corruption

When students sometimes create PPT and Access databases, if they log off and try logging on somewhere else the PPT or ADB will not open and reports a file damage or corruption error. I have been able to open the PPT using Open Office and resaving it with a different name but this is only short term as it nearly always happens again.

My network is a Novell 4.11 with Windows 98SE workstations throughout.

I have tried looking in the MS Knowledgebase and found no real solution that works.

The latest which i think is Novell 3.32 sp1

The server is patched up to sp9
