PowerPoint 2007 crashes when applying a theme

I am using PowerPoint 2007 on a Windows XP PC. When I try to apply a template, that I created, to another presentation Powerpoint crashes with the error 'MS PowerPoint has encountered a problem an needs to close. We are sorry for any inconvenience'

Has anyone any suggestions on how to fix this error

Try applying a standard template and see if it works. If you have success, then you have a corrupted template you trying to apply. Recreate the Template if possible.
