I have built a presentation in Powerpoint 2007, saved it as Powerpoint 97-2003 (ppt). When I emailed it to the end user who has 97-2003 a lot of the slides are black and the presentation cannot been seen.

We tried to apply a blank background on 97-2003 laptop. When Powerpoint itself is loaded the available templates can be seen. When the presentation is loaded the templates are black

Please help

Do you just need to view it on the other computer, or do you need to edit it? If you just need to view it, have you tried the PowerPoint 2007 Viewer, just to see?

I need to view and edit it on teh other computer. I've tried Powerpoint 2007 Viewer as well. Its just blck on the show too.

Save your show as a .pps instead of ppt and see if that helps. You can still edit a .pps so no problem there. Power point viewer only allows a viewer to view powerpoint. It doesn't allow editing.

Perhaps you have linked whatever you are using as background or images on your slides instead of embedding. In that case you would need to also include everything you put on the slides, else they will not show up.

For examply, if I put sound files on different slides and link them, I need to copy those sound files along with the powerpoint show else the sounds will not play.

Hope this makes sense.

Many thanks. I had already checked that everyting was embedded and even tried saving it as a .pps to no avail.

I have just sent him a new template, saved as a ppt and he could see this. I just got him to copy and paste the slides over and for some reason he was able to see them.

I don't know what was wrong as other 2007 users could see it but the machines that had Powerpoint 2003 couldn't, even though it was saved as a .ppt and not a .pptx.

Its sorted now but thanks for your help.
