I have a Powerpoint presentation in which all of the slides are linked to Excel charts. When I need to update the chart data, I normally double-click the Powerpoint slide to bring up the appropriate linked Excel chart, and then choose the "Source Data..." option and proceed from there. This part of the process works fine. However, when I ALT-TAB back to the Powerpoint slide itself, the chart has usually resized itself to a much smaller size than it was originally saved. If I update the link, it sometimes resizes even smaller!

I've noticed that most of the Excel charts are not maximized when they come up. Is this an Excel issue? What's going on?

I have a very similar issue, when we use Excel sheets in PowerPoint 2002, and you resize the chart or make changes to the sheet as you mentioned, it leaves an area around the chart where the chart was before, almost as if it does not reconnect with Excel and refreshes properly.
