hi

i am new to the tool and trying things out. thanks for this forum where i already cleared most of the doubts. but still i have few more...

I want to know how to publish powerplay reports to upfront. from OLAP administrator, i published the report, but thats static. even if the cube is updated, the report showing old data.
I tried to create a new report using NewsIndex -> New -> Report and created report. but how to save that format for future use? so that next time no need to re-run thru all the level again.

i am getting error as below with the .ppx file published on the upfront with run option set to "Run report in Web Explorer in design mode". Error message is
"The request failed because there is no valid cube mapping to handle the request"

thanks and regards,
Sudhi

Sudhi,
The report should update if it is linked to a cube that has changed. The problem will reside in the way the report was published to Upfront and perhaps in the name of the cube.
First point to note is that PPES/Upfront are particular about cube names - some characters are forbidden, such as '&', and will give you a cube mapping error.

Best way of publishing (IMHO) is from PP Client.
The first requirement (after setting up PPES & Upfront) is to publish the cube to Upfront.
Then, in PPClient, connect to the cube via a remote connection (new report, select File Type Powerplay cubes (.mdc)), access button set to remote)using your selected PPES computer.
Now you should have a report with a window header such as "PPlay1 of PPDSRemote;<PPES computer name>;<path to cube>".
Publishing this report to Upfront will give you a report that is dynamic for the underlying cube.

If you also save this report as a .ppr, then later, it can be republished to Upfront with an option of overwriting the original report, which can be useful, especially if you are writing reporter reports. I have found that amending the .ppx file in the ppserver root can result in some "funny behaviour"!

Sudhi,
You're welcome; thanks for the star - I had the same problem when first getting to grips with PPES.
