A question about what kinds of problems the motherboard on a G4-450 can cause. I keep having hard drives to quit working and start clicking. The first one was the 20 gig Apple then 2 IBM's then the replacement Apple 20 gig. Now the apple tech says that my motherboard is damaged. Can the motherboard problem cause the hard drives to die. It was under warranty when this problem started. I think that is a lot of hard drives to go when the problem could have been the motherboard to begin with.
Thanks,

Unless you are using a PCI hard disk controller (very rare) then your hard disk controller is on the motherboard, and the drive cable goes from it to the drive. A damaged controller could damage drives.

I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.
