Dear All,
Need your help.

I have installed Redhat 7.2 on HP Netserver E60, that has ATX power supply.

when give halt command, the server is not completly shuting
down ( i.e auto poweroff ). I need to physically switch of
the power button for it completly poweroff. How can I solve
this problem, as I need to schedule the server to poweroff
completly at night times.

when I give halt command the last message displayed is
Halting system...
md: stopping all md devices.
Power Down.

But still the system is powered, sytem fans keeps running
also to power led is on.

Please help me out in this problem.

Befor this I had installed windows 2000 professinal on this
server where in I never had no problem of shuting down i.e
complete power off the server.

Thanks for all your kind help in advance.

You need to enable APM in the kernel. Look on the internet for how to rebuild a kernel.

Or just make sure apmd is started:

/etc/init.d/apm start

I think default kernels have apm support built in.

If your just building this now why dont you get hold of a copy of RedHat 9 before you take this any further.

Dear Morsing & Miblo

Thanks for the reply.
