I know this is a silly question but I was wondering what the correct procedure is for powering down an ICP3300.

Due to work being carried out we're losing power in our comms room so I'd like to shutdown everything in a clean manner before this.

Ive spoken to my dealer and they say I just have to pull the power as the systems unix based it will just sort it's self out.

Could anyone confirm this is right or could someone give me some advice.

Thanks

Andy
ps I have full access to the interface if its a command or something that needs entering

Before powering down, I highly suggest performing a database backup of your system. You will find the backup form under the Maintenance Menu. There are very specific instructions for doing the backup on this page, so you should not have any troubles if you follow the steps.

I have powered down many 3300s by just removing the power cord. I have not once had a problem with doing this. If you just need to reset the unit, there is also a reset button on the front.

Paterson is correct.
I too have done this a number of times.
Just make sure you have a current backup and pull the plug.

you are both correct however from version 5 + Above you should be typing the command Shutdown from the RTC shell and then when the 3300ICP starts to reboot you get to the option to stop the boot process by pressing <space> <space> <space> then you can remove the power cable.

You could also use appShutdown from the RTC shell. This shuts down the system.

I have also used the "pulling the plug" method very succesfully hunderds of times. It's far easier than any other method, barring of course the reset button on the front of the controller.

Also never had any system not come up after a powerdown like this.

You've obviously never pulled the plug or had an unplanned power interruption on a 3100 :-(

I started using the Shutdown and Appshutdown when rel in ver 5.x, I now just pull the plug seems to do the same job and it's a little faster I always miss the space space space, as I'm doing something else...?
