Does anyone know if there are any limitation/restrictions in distance for installing PowerHA. We want to install HA and we would like to have one server in our main DataCenter and the other server in a Building 2 blocks away. Is it possible?

Thanks,

There is no inherent distance limitation in PowerHA. The limitation will be down to the shared disk technology and the performance that you require. Two blocks doesn't sound so bad but the distance of the route taken by the fibre connecting the disks that will limit your performance as the speed of light is finite.

Two blocks of distance is not a problem.
HACMP/XD probably would be too much, like use a gun to kill a fly.
The only thing is you should not use RS232C connections for heartbeat network and use disk network instead.

2 blocks away is maybe also too close for comfort. A flood that hits your main building might also affect the building two blocks away...

But I concur, the distance itself is not a problem to set up PowerHA. You will need fiber connections between the buildings though...
