I need to run Netware 4.11 on Poweredge 2600 servers but can't get the disk to mount to create the Netware parition.
The servers come in as Raid but we turn this off and remove all bar one of the disks and then we use 2 2600s in an SFTIII configuration, as this is the spec my client uses and the 2600 are the servers they want to use, having used 2300,2400 and 2500 before with no problems.
Dell tell me that 4.11 cannot be run on 2600s, I have tried the drivers from the adaptec web site and the drivers that were used previously on the 2500 but to no avail.
Any advice greatly appreciated.

What reason are Dell giving for not supporting 4.11, if its that the bios doesn't support it you're kinda stuck. However if its the controller that doesn't support it you could try putting a scsi card into the system and running the hdds off this

I'm also having problems trying to install Netware 5 on a Dell 2600 with Perc 4/Di.

My customer does not wish to (or need to at that) upgrade to Netware 6 which is what the OS Install Manager expects you to have.

The funny thing is I have drivers for NW5 but cannot manage to install them because I cannot find the right combination of NLM's etc. to support these drivers.

You need to use Adaptec Perc 2944 high voltage. Also, Netware 4.11 will not support an onboard Gigabit nic. Purchase an additional PCI Nic card 10/100. If you would like I can email you specs. My email address is etcnycb01@yahoo.com.

there is no problem to run netware 4.11 or 5.x on Poweredge 2600 with Perc4Di Raid controller.
The only thing to do is to download before the lastest nwpa.nlm at for netware 5.0 (not 5.1) and in the nw4sp9 for netware 4.11/4.2 then copy the nwpa.nlm file on the server in c:\nwserver and also the Perc4 and network card drivers from the Dell CD.
That's all !!!
