PowerEdge 1400 new drives

I have a PowerEdge 1400 and I recently added 2 new SCSI drives. Both drives appear in the SCSI select utility, but I am unable to see them in the OS (Windows 2k Server). Any ideas?

Are you running a raid controller? did you order the system with 1 drive and now added 2 more?

I had 3 drives and have since added 2 more. I got them to work by putting them in another system; formatting them there and returning the drives. The OS then recognized them.
