Hi Guys.

Hoping somebody may have seen this behaviour. We have five or so Dell PowerConnect 5324 and three 3448 switches. The all-gig 5324 exhibit a very strange fault.

After a random period of time of being switched on... they IP interface becomes unpingable. SNMP is therefor unavailable and so is SSH and HTTP management. The CLI via a console / serial port still works. It will flap up and down once it goes for a few days - until it ceases to function at all, until a reboot of the switch. This isnt just one switch - but all the 5324's. Some do it sooner than others.

Touch wood - so far - none of the 3448's have suffered this problem. Any ideas?

Rob,

I've seen that happen to my 5324 as well. Not a lot, but once in a blue moon.

Once the http interface fubars, I log in to the console and life is good again on the http interface.

I haven't worried about it as it's not in a critical area.

Maybe a firmware update is needed?

hmmmm.....

I've had that problem with my 5000 series Dell switches.
A firmware upgrade fixed the problem on all but one.
Called Dell, they replaced it with no problem.
