Does anyone have norton updating in their NT login scripts? I want the Win 2k machines set up as power users but when they log in it says they don't have the persmissions to update norton. Any suggestions? Thanks.

That's odd. I have my Win 2k users as 'users' and have no problems with automatic or manual definition updates...

Have you set up the virus server to let them do it? J.R. Juiliano

Jrjuliano,

I believe they can do the live updates but we have it in the login script and when it runs, the script says the user doesn't have persmissions to update????

Check out the following and see if this applies to you. These are on Symantec.com's support site. It might wrap, so just copy and paste!:

Error: "You do not have Administrator rights required to install Norton AntiVirus Client software Not Installing" may be seen while logging on

I don't use a login script for my installations; I just have an internal live update server to fetch the definitions and updates and then dish them out. Don't know if you are doing something similar!

Anyway, hope this helps you out!

visual - don't use login scripts to push the updates, use the server. Then you get service account permissions irrespective of who logs in.
