Hi everyone. I just bought a saphire radeon 9700pro atlantis. Well the saphire-tech.com homepage is pretty bad, they dont have any documents about theyr graphic cards...

Well there is one thing i wanted to know: The card needs a special power supply. There is a connector on it. Well, its the same thing as on a floppy drive, they power supply cable and connector of a floppy drive fits into that thing like it was made for it. Now, is it possible that this is the right thing? I think this is supply for the fan. But is the floppy one correct?

i didnt want to wait with it.
I was just crazy and plugged in the floppy disc connector... ... it works great! ;)

well for everyone who has the same problem, i think this will help.

I think there is no danger, the floppy disc connector fits exactly in the card....

Thats the baby!!
Sapphire usually supply an extra power cord which is esentially a floppy power plug going to a 4 pin molex splitter which you plug into the PSU harness.
So you were fortunate to have two floppy drive connections (most cheap generic supplies don't) so you were quite correct in your assumption.

All top end graphics cards now require more power than is available through the agp slot. You will find that power connector (some cards it's the larger plug like what goes to the harddrive) on Radeon 9700s & 9800s, and nVidia FX5800s, FX5900s, FX5950s, & I think also 5700s.

jeah it worked good.
Well my power supply doesnt have 2 floppy power connectors but i have many stuff here so i first tryed the only one and after made one myself...

Thanks alot for the answers anyways dudes! bye!
