I have a Win98 and powerpoint 2000 loaded on it. I have a presentation that of 10MB. For some reason when I try to open this file on my computer it hangs up. I have checked for virus, and also my startup menu is clean. I have 5 GB hard disk with more than 1/2 free space and 320 MB Ram.

Why is this happenning ?Can any one help me with this issue?

Thank u in advance

Laksh.

It should work fine on that spec. Something to try is save it as *.pps (* is the name of the presentation). The reason for this is because a .pps file runs on its own i.e. doesn't need PowerPoint. Hopefully, if its not using PowerPoint, it might work since it won't be using as many resources.

Let me know if this helps...

try rename it as *.pps as suggested, i have just tried this and yes it works!
Good Luck!

One more (somehat) remote possibility is to verify the type of graphic files used to generate the presentation. Make them all the same (if possible) and use a compressed format like ".gif", ".jpg".
I once helped someone convert all their Bitmap files to Jpegs. It resulted in an 80% reduction in load time. Also, the PC didn't crash after working all that time to load up the file.
