I am in the process of using Nortel I2004 phones running from a 48 port Cisco PoE 3750 switch. I have been told that you can only power up to 24 phones - can this be right?

We have a 3750 running 48 phones.
Not had any problems

Dave.

Just make sure you have Phase 2 phones. If they are the phase 1(first generation) you will need a spliter Powerdsine universal splitter, part # 876260

pbxn is right.
Additionnaly, Switch can be program in 2 ways: Automatic PoE, or Fix PoE per port. 1st case is better and gives you ability to change type of IP phone without need to reconfigure Switch port if it's fix to a lower power.
