Power Consumption question...

couldn't find suitable forum, so I'm using this one...

how do i calculate how much power my servers(that i haven't purchased yet) will consume?
i want to make sure my new server room is able to take the load.

Generally, the specs on the server will show in watts and amps what the power supply(s) will draw. You can then go to one of the UPS manufacters, and input that wattage into their wizard selectors to display a recommended model of UPS to keep the unit up for whatever timeframe you need. Also a lot of these selectors already have many manufacturer make and models in their database.

You will also need to make the decision if you want to run the system at low voltage or high voltage (assuming your in the US). The specs on the server's power supply will show two numbers for amperage, the first is if running at low voltage, the second number is if running at high. Low voltage requires the power supply to run at a higher amperage generating more heat while the high voltage runs at less amperage and less heat.
