postscript merge with database

Hi,

How can i merge data from a database with a postscript?

I would like to use a number from the database which in postscript should be formatted as a barcode on a specific location.

Now i know it is a programming language, so if it requires some skill then i would like to know what the best way is to learn postscript programming.

It is possible to create postscript files programatically from a database.

You would need skills in both postscript and a database language in order to achieve this.

I make a living using PostScript and teaching it to others. More information on my website.

For data-driven publishing, I will:

1) Store the Data in the DataBase
2) Author a PostScript program to consume data
3) Store the PostScript program(s) in the DataBase
4) Write a program in C# (or whatever) that:
A. Retrieves the data
B. Converts the data into PostScript data structure
C. Retrieves the PostScript program
D. Outputs the PS and the data into new, unique PostScript program.
E. Process the PostScript (send it to printer, or convert to PDF, whatever).
