Postscript - Getting data back from postscript

Hello,

We are using active PDF to convert variable data into PDF files. We have a postscript script that dynamically generates pages based on the length of the variable input.

The problem is that we need to know how many pages it generated and save that in our DB. Is there ANY way at all to have postscript write something outside of itself? to an external source. Any help would be very appriciated as we have no way at all of doing this right now.
