In my server's message Queues I'm getting some mail that seems to be waiting for delievery. The addresses that they are being sent to are foreign to me, therefore, I do not think that anyone within my office is purposely sending them. Plus, the postmaster account is a dead give away. :+P

I know that I can delete/NDR them but what I want to know is where are they coming from? How and why are they being generated and by whom; supposing that my Exchange 2k3 hasn't been possed and is now generating random emails to be sent. Should I be looking into getting a priest in here?

Dan

Those are likely relay attempts. The mail will ultimately time out if you're not a true relay.

BTW - the RFC requires that you have a postmaster@ and abuse@ account for your domain. You should make sure those are configured.

Relay has been turned off on my Exchange boxes - I learned the hardway about 3 years ago.

Ooooh, didn't know about those accounts, 58. If I configure these two accounts, will they both eat up a License?

Dan

No, add them in as additional SMTP addresses on your own mailbox.
