Have installed Exchange 2000 and when I send a mail from my hotmail account it is returned by my server.

I have used telnet on port 25 and it says SMTP is ready.

I can send and recieve internal mail and can send external mail.

The Error I get back is below.

when you did that telnet test, where were you, on your LAN? If asinet.co.uk is your actual email domain, I'm not able to reach your preferred mailserver on port 25. However, a connection could be made to your backups, so it's possible they may be holding mail for you right now. If you've got a firewall, make sure you're allowing traffic to your mailserver on port 25.

I got someone outside my network to telnet via port 25. The connection isn't always up this is why you don't get a reply. I'll try to keep the connection on.

I don't have a firewall.
