I'm trying to post our companies web site so that when people search for our keywords, it come's up with our sight. How do I do it? I'm new to this so any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi mate,

To get your site to appear in search engines, you need to either submit the url to their index, or place your link somewhere that the spider will find it.

Your site will return in the results based on the content of your site, so make sure that the content is relevant to what users will search for.

Hope this helps Wullie

To follow up on Wullie's comment place your link somewhere that the spider will find it:

Try to get a link or two from a site that has a similar theme as yours. If you sell widgets at retail, try to get a wholesale widget shop, a widget manufacturer, or a widget fan page to link to you. Do NOT use a guestbook-type link for this purpose.

The best way to get noticed and liked by Google (which also powers Yahoo and a few other sites) is to get into the Open Directory Project at but keep in mind that it can take anywhere from days to many months to get listed there. --------------

I definitly agree with foxdev about dmoz. I submitted a site recently now they refer a massive percentage of my visitors.
Also, it only took about 6 hours for my site to get listed.
(the exception rather than the norm)

Check also with your web host if they offer any kind of submittal service, it's best to do it yourself but still worth checking if your host does anything.
