Posting username and password to login automatically

Hi
I've been trying to login to a web page (for example yahoo mail) by posting the username and password in the URL. Once I tried using HttpClient and then again java.IO and java.net but the same login page keeps re-loading. Can someone please help me with some code to show how I can go on to the next page after posting the username and password?
