We just installed SP2 on Great Plains 8.0, and then moved our SQL databases from one server to another... now a user is saying that the posting settings (Setup > Posting > Posting) have changed. Not the ones indicating whether to post to/through GL, but the ones indicating whether to create a journal entry per Transaction/Batch. (It appears that it coincided with the installation of SP2, but not sure.)

They say the same thing happened when they upgraded from 7.5 to 8.0.

Does anyone know of a known issue here?

Just an update... our client has now noticed a change to the Post To/Post Through GL settings... of course, it is possible that a user has made this change, but doubtful. (We are now double-checking our security settings.)

Does anyone know of a bug or other instance where this change would be made?

Well, I can tell you what probably did or is happening.

When you first go into that window and choose a Series such as Financial, the Origin defaults to "All". The settings here always always the default settings. The "All" origin is just for you to roll down global settings to all the individual Origins (e.g. General Entry).

So, either the user is looking at this window with Origin set on "ALL" and seeing these defaults which are not the real settings....and/or....some user with access went into the window with the defaults pulled up and then hit Save which rolled the settings down to the individual origins. In that case, the settings will need to be redone. I always make a big deal to my new users to NEVER choose the ALL option. It's easier to have them change each individual origin after I do the initial settings than to explain what's it's doing.

Thanks, stef315... you said that better than I could... We tightened up the security, and I'll pass this info on to them.

By the way, are you going to the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference?

No, I normally go to Tech Conference, now Tech Ed. I didn't get to go this year because I had to go to Convergence and was busy on a project now. :( My bosses go to Worldwide Partner Conf though.
