Our Payroll has asked me to see if anyone has a solution to this: When we run payroll our period end date is always Sunday and our check date is always friday. The question they are asking is there any way to have the Balance Sheet Accounts post to the General ledger with the period end date and the P&L Accounts post to the GL with the Check Date.

My only suggestion would be to have two Journal Entries and use a clearing account. Of course, one would need to be entered manually.

Pnl Accounts - Debit on check date
Clearing Account - Credit on check date

Clearing Account - Debit on Period End
Balance sheet accts - Credit on Period End

Depending which entry has the most detail, most likely the PnL entry, they would need to change the accounts in their paycodes (most likely the Balance Sheet accounts would be changed to the clearning acct).
