Hi,
I have PostgreSQL 7.4.7 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES version 4
PostgreSQL seems to be installed OK, since I can start it manually and retrieve records.

I am trying to get Postgres to auto start as soon as the server is booted up, but when the server starts it gets stuck on the screen and the last message displayed is "Enabling Swap Space [OK]". After this point usally the Redhat desktop should load, but it doesn't.
I have already ticked Postgres to autostart in the services and carried out the command "chkconfig --add postgres"

But still no joy. Any help would be appreciated. Is anyone successfully getting Postgres to auto start on boot up? How?

Thank you
Shahid

OK got it sorted. I had originally installed Postgres using the source files, which seemed to work OK, but server wouldn't boot up correctly. When using the rpm's all is well. Great! Thanks.
