I have a particular host setup to forward mail to their exchange server. Their internet service is currently down for a few days. I am wondering how long their messages will stay in the queue before they are returned. Can I set the time in the config? Can I config it per host? Will it stay there indefinately? I have serched for these answers and found nothing. Also, is there any way so send a "temporary delivery problem" to the senders of the messages in the queue? I know exchange will do this after 2 days, and return the message after 5.

Nevermind... I came across most of the answers. I hope they help someone else:

I can make sure they don't get bounced by putting all messages on hold with postsuper -h ALL deferred, release with postsuper -H ALL

maximal_queue_lifetime (default: 5d)

delay_warning_time (default: 0h)
