Hey Guys,

This is a great site for help and I would like to take the time to thank you all for the great work, but I have my self stumped here and I need some help :).

Ok, I just formatted the server and put Mandrake 9.2 on it (had 8.2 running perfect for about 6 months before format), and I kept all my conf files and backed up most of the stuff I needed, now when I installed the new OS, I pretty much used my old Postfix conf as a guide, and I got everything up and running, I can send mail in my local machine to other users, but when I try to send to lets say hotmail.com for example I get this error message.

"Name service error for name=hotmail.com type=MX: Host not found, try again"

In the mail queue, I tried changing inet_interfaces = all, I have tried heaps of things and I can't figure out for the life of me what is wrong, DNS is working fine on the machine, I can access websites via their name and so on, does anyone have an idea what could be wrong?

Any help would be greatly apreciated.

Regards
Paul

Hiya Paul,

Yeah, this place is one of the best, helped me no end! :)

Do you run your postfix chrooted? If so, have you got the right name server setup in

var/spool/postfix/etc/resolve.conf
