Request:
-----------------
Would like to have a mail server system that is able to automatically fail over on to a secondary server with out
losing any of our users emails? Not sure of the right method and am interested in hearing how other people/groups/companies
have implemented this type of thing.
Platform
----------------
Solaris 8
Postfix mail
squirrel mail
Two Sunfire v280r boxes each hooked individually to an attached storage raid via fiber
With this system we use one sunfire as the main server to send recieve mail. When problems arise with the main server we manually
change DNS entries to point to secondary server sitting in the wings and copy all postfix configuration files to other machine.
Looking for a better way of doing this to take out the manual intervention
Solutions??
Have thought about attaching the storage via NFS show that one storage device could be shared by both server and clustering.
Not sure if you can cluster postfix server as I am new to the concept. Another possiblity is to find sone software that keeps both raids in sync in realtime. I have
used rsync to copy changes from one raid to another. But this process takes us about 2 hours to perform - not sure that is a real solution
Open to anything out thier, please share
