postfix configuration problem "virtual_mailbox_base

Hello everybody,
I'm trying to setup a virtual mailbox and the problem i'm running into is with virtual_mailbox_base.

it keeps defaulting to virtual_mailbox_base = /var/spool/mail and i like it to go down one more folder /var/spool/mail/virtual but it wont..

the mail keeps droping into /var/spool/mail.
i used the howto:
no error messages appear in the logs.
i'm able to send and receive mail.
mandrake 10
postfix 2 somthing..
any ideas?
